Leon Petty
Poem for Pablo
How little I get done
drawn toward many centers
gazing onto this and that
The everything becomes the nothing
The nothing becomes the everything
Sky so lily lit
so deep
shedding the light that lumbers in
Fresh from the galaxies
some unknown, some near
tireless photons cast
come rummaging across my face
They dote and dot the cracks and curves
careening back
making my face
as large as the universe
It’s easy to deal with infinity
Its finity by which I am assailed
Moments brought together
like joined hands
blurred by their motion
and whisked away by time
The continuum continues
unable to reach the place
where all is seen
and things no longer move
The continuum continues
unable to fall back
into the lotus stem
